E. V. Ortolan

E. V. Ortolan was born and raised in Brazil, and has attended the University of São Paulo where she studied the insides and outs of many different stories from many fronts of Literature around the world.

Her passion for writing first appeared when she was just a kid, but her passion for telling stories has ever been present (her poor dolls could tell you all the horrific things E. V. has put them through, though she also created the most romantic and escapist scenarios for them when the mood hit). At just 12 years old, so inspired by all the books she had already read, she tried to write her own fantasy saga, which did not become a reality. At 13 years old, she began writing fanfics, which then lead to her writing her own short stories (some of which you can read the improved and edited version of in Tears and Shadows).

 

During her university years, the short stories kept being written, but she also started outlining ideas for diverse novels—one of them was a reimagining of the one she tried to write when she was 12. Though the novels never saw the light of day back then, she managed to get some of her short stories published in antologies. That's when the first spark hit to try and self-publish.

After she learned about the world of self-publishing, that's all that she could think about, and she worked hard to give her readers the best version of her stories. Tears and Shadows was her first book to be published back in January 2026, soon to be followed by Where Fear Smiles, her first novel (finally!), polished to the max for the enjoyment of the horror fans.

After Where Fear Smiles, E. V.'s mind immediately turned to other projects, and currently she is working on her next horror novel, details yet to be announced.

But why E. V.? What is her name?

If you had this question appear in your mind, you also probably thought that the answer is because of privacy, and you are right. Though she prefers not to share her name publicly, she allows all her readers to call her "Eevee", as an homage to her favorite pokémon (for a reason). It's not by accident that her username on Reddit is EeveeOrtolan.

​

Besides horror, she is a fantasy, sci-fi, and romance reader (though she is open to any genre not related to WW2), she loves watching cute cartoons and animes, she loves sitcoms but cannot resist other TV shows such as Hannibal, and she loves her dogs, so much so her current dog, Amora, is always featured in her author pics of her books.
